The Lion and the Mouse

(A lion sleeps under a tree in the wood. A little mouse runs on the lion’s back.)
L i o n : Who is on my back?
(The Lion catches the Mouse.)
Who are you?
M o u s e : Oh, Mr Lion, I am a little Mouse. Please, do not eat me.
L i o n : What are you doing here? Why are you running on my back?
M o u s e : Forgive me, please, Mr Lion. But I am looking for food, sir. Now, let me go, Mr Lion. Some day I may help you, too.
L i o n : Ha! Ha! Ha! How can a little mouse help a big lion? All right. Go quickly! I am not hungry today.
(The Mouse runs away.)
L i o n : Ha! Ha! Ha! What a funny little mouse!
(The Lion goes away but suddenly his paw gets in the net. He can not get it out.)
Help! Help! Help! (The Lion cries.)
(The Mouse hears his cry and runs up to the Lion.)
M o u s e : What is it?
L i o n : My paw is in the net. Ask somebody to come and help me.
M o u s e : But I can help you.
L i o n : Oh, Mouse! You are so little! You cannot help me.
M o u s e : Watch!
(The Mouse bites the net. It bites and bites.)
L i o n : Now I can get my paw out! Oh, Little Mouse, thank you very much.
